4 Futures Prop Firms I Actually Trade

Matt’s Take

Apex is the stack play. I am not using more accounts to trade bigger. I am using them to repeat the same clean setup once I know the process works.

The key is not buying 20 accounts and trading recklessly. I want to prove the process on one account, then copy the same clean trade across the stack.

Apex is powerful when your setup is repeatable. It gets expensive fast when your process is emotional.

How the Eval Works

The 50K EOD evaluation can be passed in one day. The drawdown is calculated from your end-of-day balance, then enforced in real time during the next session.

Hitting the daily loss limit pauses trading for the day. Touching the EOD threshold fails the account.

Payout Rules

For a 50K EOD PA, you need five separate days of at least $250 in profit, 50% consistency, and a minimum balance of $52,600 to request at least $500.

The $52,100 safety net stays in the account. Approved payouts use a 100% split. Each PA can receive up to six payouts, with caps that rise from $1,500 on the first request to $3,000 on the sixth.

Main Catch

The evaluation is simple. The Performance Account is not. Most of the rules that matter show up after you pass.

Other Ways to Trade Apex

Intraday Evaluation

Best for traders willing to manage a real-time trail for a different purchase option. I use the EOD account because I would rather have drawdown update from the close than every open high.

Other Account Sizes

I use 50K as the baseline. Go smaller if entry cost matters more than contract capacity. Go larger only when your actual position sizing needs the additional drawdown or contracts.

Why I Use 50K Accounts

The 50K is the sweet spot for how I trade. It gives me enough drawdown and contract room for my Nasdaq setups without paying for account size I do not need. Using the same size at every firm also makes the rules and payout structures easier to compare.
